Istanbul is undoubtedly one of the most exciting tourist destinations worldwide. Istanbul is a major economic, financial and cultural centre for the country. The historic sites within it were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Some places of interest include: Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya), Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque), Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, Basilica Cistern, Byzantine Hippodrome, Dolmabahce Palace, Grand Bazaar, Egyptian (Spice) Market, Princes' Islands. A ride on the Bosphorus should not be missed.
